A-Z Children’s Charity intends to build a ‘best practise’ paediatric clinic in order to tackle the high under- 5 mortality rate in Uganda

A-Z Children’s charity Clinic for HIV infected children

The 5 biggest causes of death to under- fives in developing countries are HIV, malaria, diarrhoea, pneumonia and measles. Presently there are an alarming 2 million AIDS orphans and 110,000 HIV infected children living in Uganda. 80% of HIV infected children will die before their 5th birthday due to lack of medicine. This clinic, when built, will provide lifesaving treatment to up to 20,000 of the most vulnerable children living in Ugandan Society; children infected and affected by HIV/ AIDS.

The cost of building phase 1 of this clinic is €304,000. The running of the clinic will cost €60,000 per year. It will therefore cost €3 to provide lifesaving medical treatment to a HIV affected child in Uganda.

We have so far raised over €150,000 towards the construction of the clinic. Major donations to date include:-

The Communications Workers Union - €30,000
